Yun-Jin Kim plays Sun
She lied to her father about the broken glass ballerina at the beginning of the episode. She kept the fact of Jin's infertility from him--a lie by omission.
In season two, we found out she cared about Jae, but then discovered he planned to marry another woman. Running away from him, she ran into Jin, who was looking out for a woman associated with orange. It seemed to be fate.
Later, she had an affair with Jae. Is this after she realizes that Jin is an enforcer for her father? It seems likely. She ran from Jae, ran into Jin, married Jin, realized what Jin had become (and embellished it a bit in her imagination, since we see that Jin is not capable of killing another person), and ran back to Jae.
As a quick aside, I disagree with those who think Sun is carrying Jae's child. Sun didn't get the pregnancy test until day 58 of their stay on the island. Even if the affair with Jae ended in the days immediately preceding flight 815, she would have been more than two months pregnant. At two months, you no longer need a pregnancy test.
Jae asked her to run away to America with him. In season one, she planned to leave Jin at the airport, travel around a bit, then go to America. Jae clearly died before then. Did she think Jin had something to do with Jae's death?
And I notice that Sun is doing a lot of running. Perhaps if she were more honest and straightforward with the people she is closest to, she might be able to stay in one place. Sun is the Glass Ballerina. One wrong move and her life shatters. Unfortunately, her bids for independence are often the wrong move. Thus far, her mistakes have been paid for by someone else--the maid when she broke the figurine, Jae when she cheated on Jin--but it appears her luck is turning.
When she lied to Jin on Sayid's behalf, she ended up suffering the consequences; the Others boarded the boat and attacked her. Had she done as Jin asked, she would have been safe at the home camp (well, as safe as one can be on that island). And she shot Colleen. Colleen warned her that the Others would become her enemy if Sun shot her. Sun did just that and now she will be the target for the Others' retribution. It's almost as if Sun was saying, "Nyah nyah, you can't tell me what to do." Like she did with Jin on the boat earlier that day.
Sun shooting Colleen brings up another interesting point. Sun proved herself capable of killing someone, whether Colleen survives the bullet remains to be seen, but Sun did make the attempt. Jin, who Sun believes is a hitman, has proven himself incapable of killing people.

It could be the Island's baby. Hmmmm....Anyway, great site. Anyone who's a Lost fan is a friend of mine. I sure hope we can have some good discussions down the road about this show.
