Bride and Prejudice
November 21st 2006 08:35
Naveen Andrews starred in "Bride and Prejudice" (2004), an Indian twist to the Jane Austen novel. In this scene, we get to see Naveen Andrews in a much different look from the sandy, unshaven beach bum/commando Sayid we're used to seeing on Lost.
He sings. He dances. It's quite fun. Check it out.

I saw Bride and Prejudice, and at first I couldn't believe that was Naveen! It's really very different, and he's a very talented actor outside of Lost too.
Cya!

Naveen was also in 'The English Patient' and in 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love' (directed by Mira Nair). The woman in pink next to him, in the clip plays his sister in B&P and was his concubine/lover in 'Kama Sutra'
Although he's of Indian descent, he's English so his natural accent is quite 'pro-pah' and he's been in a lot of movies.
He's my equal favourite character in 'Lost'. The other being Jack.
I will most definitely be back here Adele when 'Lost' is back on our screens in Australia. Don't want to accidently read spoilers...I like the weekly frustration!

You're right that Naveen is very talented. He looks much younger when he cleans up, too. Thanks for stopping by.

I thought I'd spend some of the time during the hiatus talking about what the actors have been up to and what's coming up for them. I'll have a few more of these between now and February. I'm glad you visited.

I saw both those movies. The English Patient was a big tearfest, but I don't remember much of Naveen's character, except that I was annoyed by how the other characters treated him.
During Kama Sutra, I just wanted to shout at the screen "Be a man!" every time Naveen came on.
He's talented and I'd like to see him in more things. I'll look forward to your visits when season three of Lost reaches Australia. (When is that?)

Crazy Bollywood films...
Seems to be quite different from the Jane Austen story.

I like your idea of filling the hiatus with what other projects that actors are working on or have done. Look forward to more of it

I'm not a lost fan as you know...but finally a chance to leave my paw print...
I lived in H-india for nearly three years and I love Jane Austen... can you imagine how much fun this film was for me to see...?
*lol* Luuurved it!
I have a good Bollywood collection - as well as other nations - which I've collected mainly for my children as I try to shift the western paradigm from their minds sometimes...for perspective...
* A Confession*
...your enthusiasm is tempting me to watch an episode of Lost...Ooh no... I haven't switched the TV on for ages...

Great post of reminding me the first ever English based Hindi movie I watched with my friend!
(I used to watch some Hindi movies when I sneaked into my dad's cinema after the show started - waiting for dad to finish his work)
It was trully a fresh twist from the original novel. And with the dance, it brings out the colours and beauty of India. The songs are nice too!
I hope India will come out more nice movies like these in future!
Cheerio

They all seem to be making movies while filming Lost. I guess a TV series isn't as demanding as I thought it was. I'll keep you filled in.

I haven't seen much of what Bollywood has to offer, but what I have seen, I like. I know I'll be looking for more. Any recommendations?
I hope you do try Lost. It's not the usual TV fare. But it's definitely not for the younger kids.
