Redemption Song

In season two, Sawyer sang "Redemption Song" while he and Michael drifted on the broken raft. Josh Holloway doesn't have such a bad voice. He should sing more.

I received an email asking what the "Redemption Song" is. It's an old Bob Marley tune. A lot of Marley's songs take the attitude of how the past was bad, but we'll move on and make something of ourselves. A lesson Sawyer would do well to heed.

Evangeline Lilly was interviewed on her way into the Golden Globes. She sounds like such a nice person. I wish she had worn her hair up so we could get a better look at the dress, but nobody in Hollywood ever pays attention to my style advice. About.com's Lost guide Rachel Thomas interviewed Michael Emerson, who plays Benjamin Linus on Lost. In it, Emerson reiterates his hope that his role on Lost will bring him more and better roles on television and in theatre. He also confirms that the writers do put all those details in the show on purpose. That's good. I'd hate to think I spent all this time and the connections were only in my imagination.

So, just what is the point of these two characters?

They're not regulars. Officially, they're still just guest stars. In a Lost podcast, Cuse and Lindelof said their existence was contrived to trick us into thinking they would die in "Cost of Living". It didn't work, but now I hear there is another point to their existence and it will become apparent in episode fourteen (28 March 2007).

Lost Recap Episode

As called by the Daily Sonnet in the comments thread, when Lost returns in February (not January), a recap show will air right before the first episode of the second half of the season. So, on 07 Feb 2007, we get two straight hours of Lost. The recap show will start at Lost's regular time, 9pm Eastern. The new episode "Not in Portland" will air immediately afterward at Lost's new time, 10pm Eastern. Subsequent episodes will air at the new later time.

Just twenty-nine days to go.

An Evening With Lost

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (the Emmy people) are sponsoring "An Evening with Lost". On 13 Jan 2007, the cast and creative team of Lost will be at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in Hollywood. No word on exactly who from the cast and creative team will be there. Jimmy Kimmel will host.

The event is sold out, but it will be webcast live

Yep, I'm way behind on this one. The Lost podcast of 06 Dec 2006 talks a bit about "I Do" and not at all about "Not in Portland". ("I Do" being the last episode of the mini-season with the backstory about Kate, while "Not in Portland" being the first episode of the second half of the season with the backstory about Juliet.) Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse hosted and spent most of the show answering fan questions.

They began by discussing their casting choice of Nathan Fillion as Kate's husband Kevin. Lindelof and Cuse both consider him

Because the world needs more Nathan Fillion
"an awesome actor" who excelled in Firefly. With only five scenes in the episode, they needed an actor who could win an audience and seem real in a very short time. They're also Whedon fans and they're looking for "geek cred". Ha
